The number of international residents in Kuwana city, which is such a pleasant place to live, has increased by approximately 400 since the previous year, and currently over 6000 people live in the city. Kuwana city started a concierge service for international residents on the first floor of the city office on 13th of June Last year, with the aim of making the city ‘A city welcoming all nationalities.’ The following is an overview of how international residents are using the service and what the response has been.

Kuwana City, Mie Prefecture released two English subtitled PR videos, including “Rokkaen,” one of the leading tourist spots in Kuwana City, and “Deep Dive into the Charms of KUWANA,” which is a video of three experts sharing their thoughts on the charms of the city.

Kuwana City announces that it hosted “Global Festa 2024” at Kuwana Media Live on Saturday, November 30th. There were over 180 participants, consisting of both Japanese and non-Japanese families. Various confectioneries were offered including “Yasunaga mochi,” a specialty of Kuwana, and local confectioneries of non-Japanese residents of Kuwana city. Other highlights included displays of traditional clothes, games and activities from around the world, country flags coloring activity, and quiz competition promoting multicultural conviviality.

Beginning mid-June, Kuwana City started a “Concierge Service for Foreign Residents” providing support, such as daily life consultations, in multiple languages. This will be the first step toward reaching our goal of becoming a “Foreigner-Friendly City” by mitigating the difficulties for non-Japanese speakers to conduct administrative procedures and receive services.
