-- Visibility Edge, a marketing agency that helps coaches and small business owners get found, trusted, and chosen online, today announced the Authority Visibility Audit, a free assessment that shows coaches and small business owners where their content is — and isn't — being picked up by AI search tools such as ChatGPT. The launch follows a March 2026 survey of 1,110 U.S. respondents by Orbit Media Studios, conducted with QuestionPro, which found that more than half of people now start a search by opening an AI app rather than Google.
The same survey found AI chat is now preferred over traditional search by 40% of respondents for step-by-step, how-to style questions, the kind of research a prospective client typically does before deciding who to hire. Trust in Google results over AI-generated answers also narrowed, from 52% in 2025 to 49% in 2026, per the survey.
"Most coaches and small business owners aren't behind; they're just in a crowded room, competing for the same slice of attention," said Michele Dobros, founder of Visibility Edge. "The room changed. If a piece of content can't answer the real question a future client is asking, in their own words, AI has no reason to recommend the person behind it. Neither does Google."
Visibility Edge said many coaches and consultants unintentionally compete for the same narrow set of topics because they rely on the same handful of keyword tools, which return identical suggestions to every user who logs in. The Authority Visibility Audit is built to surface that gap directly: it reviews a business's existing content and flags where it currently shows up, and where it's missing, across Google, AI search platforms and social channels.
"Getting found by the right people isn't about posting more often," Dobros said. "It's about answering the specific question a future client already has, in language that still sounds like the person answering it."
